The DL4 delay pedal is a legendary fully digital delay and looper that found its way into countless pedalboards around the world since 1999 when it was released. From touring musicians to bedrooms producers, this pedal has always been one of the most recognizable pieces of gear. Its vibrant green housing has often been mocked but no one can deny that this is one of the most feature-packed, great-sounding delays you can get!
And now, Line 6 just released the long-awaited DL4 MkII!
The DL4 MkII includes everything in the original DL4 Delay Modeler while introducing 15 new MkII delays drawn from the HX family of amp and effects processors and both 4-Switch and 1-Switch loopers with up to 240 seconds of record time (expandable to several hours using an optional microSD card). There's also an XLR microphone input, MIDI In and Out/Thru connectors, heavy-duty footswitches, three bypass options, and a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal or two additional footswitches. The DL4 MkII is also smaller and lighter than the original, which is always a plus!
To be able to add 15(!) more delay modes, Line 6 added a legacy button, which can be pressed and access the classic modes of the original DL4. And as it was teased in the presentation video by Line 6, they also included 15 “secret reverb” modes! To sum up, with the DL4 you’ll get 30 delay modes, 15 reverb modes, and a powerful looper. All in one pedal.
The DL4 MkII is certainly the most versatile delay pedal you can get and the good thing is that its price stayed almost the same as the original one! I’m sure that this pedal will become another huge success for Line 6. They managed to keep all the features that people loved about the original and add so much more while still keeping it an affordable option.
