Arturia MircoFreak Granular mode!
A new exciting update on the beloved synthesizer!
As we said in our article before Arturia is hands down, the best synth manufacturer in the world! Besides producing amazing synths and plugins, they constantly upgrade their instruments with new exciting firmware updates adding more and more functionality. And the best example is the MicroFreak. With its digital engine, it’s very easy to upgrade and add more features, and Arturia hasn’t stopped giving us new beautiful engines to play with.
And from May 30th, the MicroFreak will get some very cool new engines alongside a few updates. You will now be able to import samples and play them back using the MicroFreak and 3 Granular processing engines which is mind-blowing! A few months ago, we tried to guess what would be the next OP-1 field synth engine and our guess was a Granular Synthesis engine (you can check it out here). And now, instead of having it on the OP-1 field, we will get it on the MicroFreak.
The Sample playback engine also sounds exciting since you’ll be able to loop samples and play them back, just like in our beloved Casio SK-1. On the Granular engines, there will be 3 different ones where you will be able to wildly manipulate the initial samples and create unique sounds!
Some other notable features on the V5 Firmware will be:
Keyboard Random Source: You can now transform your keyboard into a S&H-style modulation source
Snappy Envelopes: Even shorter attack values with MicroFreak’s envelopes.
More Presets: MicroFreak will now have 512 preset slots with over 300 factory presets.
And also, there will be a brand new limited edition MicroFreak for all you weirdos that still haven’t got a MicroFreak yet. It will be called the Stellar Limited Edition and looks amazing!
